There are a lot of things to remember when you’re pregnant or a new mom. Text4baby makes it easy to get important information, and it’s free. Women who text BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411 receive free text messages three times per week, timed to their due date or their baby’s birth date, through pregnancy and up until the baby’s first birthday. Text4baby sends personalized messages directly to you, and the texts have information you can trust because they are developed by experts from all over the country. There is also an app that provides additional information about baby’s development, pregnancy, childcare tips, and more.

Text4baby topics include:

• Nutrition for you and your baby
• Safe sleep tips
• Baby’s milestones
• Signs and symptoms of labor
• Doctor visit and appointment reminders for you and your baby
• Breastfeeding advice
• Car seat safety
• Information on health insurance
• Urgent health alerts

  Appointments

  You have a lot going on- let Text4baby help you remember your upcoming appointments. Set up a text-based reminder for your doctor’s appointments for you or your baby. It’s easy- you can use the app or set up a reminder through your text messages.

  Here’s how you can set up an appointment by text message:

  • Text remind to 511411
  • When asked, enter the appointment date with no spaces or words in MMDDYY format (e.g. 101215).
  • You will then be asked to enter a short description of the appointment (e.g. Dr. Smith 9AM).
  • You will receive two text reminders: the first reminder 3 days before and the second reminder the morning of your appointment.

WV Right From the Start Program (RFTS)

The Right From The Start Program may be able to help you in the following ways::

• Obtain Medicaid coverage for your pregnancy and your new baby.

• Arrange to get care for yourself and your baby.

• Access medical care if you are uninsured or have limited benefits and are not eligible for Medicaid but meet other necessary requirements.

• Locate other valuable services besides your medical care. These include:

• Accessing Childbirth classes

• Accessing Parenting classes

• Arranging transportation to medical appointments

• Assistance in quitting smoking

• Guidance with eating healthier for you and your baby

Pathways’ Early Intervention (EI) Program

Pathways of Southwestern Pennsylvania provides lifelong services to persons of all abilities through dedication and collaboration, empowering them to reach their full potential.

We provide services to people and their families in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Washington, & Westmoreland Counties.  Throughout the past 50 years, Pathways of Southwestern Pennsylvania has provided quality and innovative programs and services for individuals and their families.   Currently, we serve over 1300 families throughout the Southwestern Pennsylvania region.  As we move toward the future, Pathways of Southwestern Pennsylvania strives to be a proactive organization continuing to address the changing needs of our diverse community.

Pathways’ Early Intervention (EI) Program offers support and services designed to assist families with infants and toddlers (birth through age three), with special needs, to promote the development of their children.

Pathways of Southwestern PA provides EI services to over 600 children residing in Washington County, Greene County, Fayette County, & Westmoreland County. All services are available year round and are provided at no cost to families.

Early Intervention professionals provide services within the child’s natural environment. This typically includes the child’s home, child care center, or other community setting. This approach is intended to help the child’s caregivers learn ways to support their children within their daily routines and activities. Services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, vision support, hearing support, and nutrition services as appropriate.

Pathways has over 50 years of experience working with children with a wide variety of special needs including, but not limited to:

• Down Syndrome

• Hearing Loss
• Vision Loss

An Individual Family Service Plan, or IFSP, is developed for each child found eligible through a Multidisciplinary Evaluation, or MDE. Parent participation in all aspects of the program is strongly encouraged.

Monongalia County Schools Early Head Start

Monongalia County Early Head Start is a federally funded program overseen by Monongalia County Schools.

This free program serves pregnant mothers and children ages birth to three.

Although most families must meet income guidelines to enroll, over-income spaces are also available.

Our goal is to provide exceptional services to young children to enhance their cognitive, social/emotional, and physical abilities. Additionally, understanding that parents are their child’s first teacher, our staff provides resources for parents to enhance their relationships with their children.
