Our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships that provide measurable impact. Our vision is to bring a Big Brother or Big Sisters to every child who needs and wants one.

Description

We match at-risk area youth ages 6-16 with mentors who have similiar personalities and interests in order to provide a positive role model. We serve Allegany, Garrett, Mineral, Bedford, Somsert, Hardy, Grant, and Hampshire Counties.

We have two programs available, a community based program and a lunch based program. The community based program is where a volunteer is matched with a child, and they meet up and do activities together once or twice a month. Playing basketball, baking, watching sports, going to a play, or hiking are a few examples of activities that our Bigs and Littles do. A vehicle and car insurance is needed for this program.

The lunch buddy program is where our mentors meet with elementary students once a week for lunch and recess. Many mentors spend recess tutoring, working on special projects, playing games, and talking. This program is currently only available in Allegany and Mineral County.

All volunteers must be willing to comply with an in-person interview and have a clean background check (speeding tickets and traffic violations are not a bar for our program).
